Abstract:

Healthy adult male albino rats of wistar stain weighing 180 – 225gms were used. They were fed with a standard balanced diet and clean drinking water. The drug ciprofloxacin hydrochloride T.P was used for
the animals. The weighed animals divided into the four groups, of five animals each and received of treatment. After treatment of weighed the rats, 24 hrs after the last treatment schedule the animals were
sacrificed by decapitation. The removed testis washed in 0.9% saline, freed from the adhering connective tissue mass and blotted on a filter paper. The organ was weighed and stored at 4°C until used for further
biochemical analysis such as Testicular Lipid peroxidation (LP), Superoxide dismutase (SOD), Catalase (CAT) and Glutathione (GSH). In the present study ciprofloxacin treatment brought about an increase in
lipid peroxidation in a dose and duration, both groups are (short and long duration) LP was increasing, but the enzymatic and non enzymatic markers like Superoxide dismutase, Catalase and Glutathione also
was significantly reduced by ciprofloxacin at both treatments when compared to control. SOD, CAT and GSH all the vitamin supplementations were capable of increasing the activity to near control levels.
