Abstract:

Coronary endarterectomy is first presented by Baily et al. as a surgical revascularization procedure against diffuse coronary artery disease on 29th October 1956. Coronary endarterectomy provides a way of complete surgical revascularization of the myocardium in diffuse and calcified coronary arteries with adequate blood flow to distal part of vessels, thus improving myocardial function. However, the initial outcomes of coronary endarterectomy were not satisfactory but now-a-days several articles have shown that coronary artery bypass grafting with coronary endarterectomy can be done safely with acceptable morbidity, mortality and also patent graft on angiographic evaluation. So that, it’s time to reevaluate this old equation, reanalysis the current outcomes of coronary endarterectomy and readdress its indication.
