India faces an acute shortage of health personnel. Together with inequalities in distribution of health workers, dental health workers also become a part contributing to it impeding the progress towards achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. In the past two decades, there has been drastic progress in increasing the training capacity. This review shows that key finding regarding workforce production is the increase in training capacity because of the growth in private sector involvement in dental education
